Easter weekend

Thursday night we started our trip to North Carolina and stopped for the night in Georgia just shy of the South Carolina border. As it turned out, this was a great decision as bad weather had moved into Alabama overnight. It was also nice because we were well rested when we arrived in Hendersonville Friday morning. We stayed at the Mill House Lodge which I highly recommend to anyone. The rates are really cheap. The location is fantastic. The rooms are nice and most come with a kitchen.

Tim and I dropped our stuff off and then headed into town for a bite to eat. We then went downtown and strolled around looking into the shops. I love Hendersonville! I then called my Uncle Charlie to see when we might be able to catch up with them for a visit. We went up to their house a few hours later where I got to see my cousin Angela for the first time since October when we helped her leave the hospital and board a plane for North Carolina where she would continue her rehabilitation. She looked amazing and gorgeous as always. She has made such tremendous progress the last 6 months. And the most beautiful thing about her is her positive attitude. Angela has always been one of those people who doesn't see hurdles. She just sets her mind to something and makes it happen. It was wonderful to get to visit with her and my Uncle Charlie and Mary Wall and Courtney and all the dogs. We got to see Mary Wall's daughter, Mair on our last day right before we left and we got to meet her wife Nicole, as well. I am so glad we got up there before the baby was born!

Here are the pictures from that weekend:

Aren't we cute?!

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday weekend we had the pleasure of the company of Tim's mom and our niece Katherine. Tim put his mom to work Saturday morning raking leaves while Katherine and I cleaned windows. Around 10:30 I decided it was time for some shopping and we left Tim to finish up. : ) Us ladies went back to the consignment sale I mentioned in a previous post and bought a lot more clothes for our new baby girl and we bought some clothes for our oldest baby girl as well, Katherine. Since it was the last day of the sale, a lot of clothes were half off. It was really hard to say no to a lot of the clothes since they were only a $1 so I finally just had to walk away. The new baby girl should now be set for clothes until she is about 6 months old.

We got went back to the house and ate some lunch and then Tim put us to work again. This time we sanded baby furniture to get it ready for painting. Afterwards, we went out to eat at our favorite Italian restaurant and had enough left over to enjoy a fabulous lunch the next day. Sunday we attended services at the local CMA church. We then spent the afternoon visiting and playing games. I was rather worn out and didn't have the energy for much else. I am so glad they came over for the weekend. We had a really good time.

Here are some pictures from that weekend. I have to say I haven't been doing a very good job of taking pictures of our visitors. I completely forgot to get a picture of my cousin Courtney and her family when they visited and I didn't get one of Katherine during this visit. Maybe Mrs. Thomas will send me some.

Mrs. Thomas brought us an Easter basket full of goodies.
It included a few things for the baby, as well. Thank you Mrs. Thomas!

Don't that beat all...

I had my dreaded glucose tolerance test yesterday and I failed it so I got to go back to the doctor's office today for a more extensive test which I also failed. What does this mean? I have gestational diabetes. No one seems that concerned about it, though. The doctor said I'll just have to eat a low-carb diet and monitor my sugar levels. I was also referred to a dietician. She only does classes on Fridays and this week she changed it to this afternoon and I didn't find that out until it was too late to attend. I'll have to wait until next Friday to get my testing machine and find out what the heck it is I'm supposed to be eating now. In the meantime, I'll just worry about everything I eat. And now, I'm just waiting for my blood sugar level to return to normal so my head will quit spinning.

Consignment Sale

I experienced my first consignment sale this week. I met our friend Courtney at the Kids Market consignment sale Monday night and couldn't believe the amount of merchandise. There are several consignment sales that happen in Birmingham throughout the year. Kids Market is right down the road and occurs in the Spring and Fall for a week. It is a great opportunity for people to sell all the stuff their children no longer need without having to have their own yard sale.

Courtney helped me pick out a lot of cute clothes. I got 4 pairs of shorts, 5 pairs of pants, 2 outfits, 1 dress, 1 skort, and 1 totally adorable denim jacket for $18. Notice the variety of colors. I can buy things that aren't purple!

Tim's mom and Katherine will be here today and I think we may go check out the sale's 50% off day tomorrow.

An Answer!

Update: It was decided that Patrick's gall bladder test may have been a fluke since he has been laying down in bed so much. They are not doing the surgery. He is feeling better and has been able to keep food down so he is headed home.

***********************

I heard from my mom last night after I got in from work. They ran a test on Patrick yesterday to observe how his gall bladder was operating and discovered that it was not emptying. He should have surgery this morning to remove it. Hopefully, he'll be home by this afternoon or tomorrow morning. We are all so grateful for a simple fix!

25 weeks

Here's what 25 weeks looks like for me:

I am certainly finding that my stamina is diminishing. Tim and I went to Target yesterday and I came home and had to take a nap. Well, she'll be here soon enough and then the real challenge will begin.

In other news, my brother is still in the hospital. They decided to run some more tests on him while he is there. They don't want to release him until he can hold down some food. I realized today that my 6' 3" 20-year-old brother now weighs less than my 5' 3" pregnant self. He is becoming more frustrated with the process and who can blame him? In a week, he has been poked and examined more than some people have twice his age in their entire lives. He is tired of sitting around and not feeling well. I hope for his sake and my parents' sake that this will be over soon.

Update on Patrick

His tests for various diseases and disorders are all coming back negative so that is a good thing. The bad thing is they still don't have conclusive evidence of what has been ailing him. They hope that their treatment for a parasite will work and that is all it is. I talked to Patrick today and he sounded real well and was looking forward to some chicken broth. He has been stable now for a couple of days with a couple of bumps along the way. He has one more test tomorrow and then they may release him. I'll keep y'all posted if anything changes.
